"And this is my room."

I enter the large room to find white carpets and light blue walls. Posters of animals hang by tacks. Stuffed animals and figurines litter the area. Even his comforter is full of dogs and cats. While I admire Warrin's innocence, this seems to be a bit much. He closes the door behind me.

"What do you think?" he asks as my eyes follow all the fluffy brightness.

"Really love animals?"

"I used to want to be a vet when I grew up. Thinking of sick and hurt animals always broke my heart. I wanted to help."

Now, that makes sense. It's a totally Warrin aspiration to grow up and help sick animals. Did his future take a huge deviation from his childhood dream or what? "Why didn't you become one?"

"It was brought to my attention that to help animals, I might have to hurt them; like shots and stitches and things. The worst was when I found out I may need to put them to sleep too. I couldn't do any of that."

Sighing, I plop down on his bed, my legs crossed under me. Warrin sits, and I grab his shoulders to signal that he should lie down. My fingers stroke his messy blond hair once his head is in my lap. "Is that before you met Anders?"

He nods. "When I learned that my dream job wasn't for me, I decided I needed to find a way to support my mother. She worked so hard for us and deserved a break. Anders found me and knew I was a bear shifter right away. He took me in and mentored me. Now, my mother will never go without for me, and I have two brothers. It was lonely growing up, but I guess it was for the best."

"Why?"

"Well, with my mom being human, shifter genes aren't for sure. Since I was born a polar bear, any other child that didn't receive the gift may have become bitter."

"But they could have received the gift?"

"Yeah. It's just that each child is a chance of being either."

"Unless the mate takes more than one?"

His cool blue eyes look up at me. "Anders told us he explained that to you, but it's your choice if you want one of us, two of us, all three, or none at all. The choice is completely yours, Eddie."

"But you hope for..."

"I want you. I have since we first met, but it gets worse with each day I spend with you. My new brothers are very much a part of me, so it would be nice. Even if it's only me though, I'd be very happy."

Warrin's mother's words run through my mind. The longer I fight the urge to give him what he wants, the more I'll regret the time I didn't give him. I'm still not ready. As I said, I follow my instincts. Right now, they're pushing me into Warrin's arms and bed; into his future life. For once, I fight my intuition.

"Give me a few more days to think about it, then we can revisit the idea," I say.
